Phurba Thangka paintings depict Vajrakilaya, the wrathful deity linked to the three-bladed ritual dagger used in Tibetan Buddhist practice. Practitioners invoke him to pin down and remove obstacles, both external hindrances and inner negative states. Padmasambhava is credited with bringing this practice to Tibet.
