Mahakala Thangka Paintings

Mahakala is the great protector deity of Tibetan Buddhism, usually painted in deep black or blue-black. This color represents his all-embracing nature, since every color and form dissolves into black. Our collection includes the Newari style, developed by Kathmandu Valley’s Newar artists and once adopted as Tibet’s own dominant painting style. Each piece is hand-painted using natural mineral pigments, organic cotton canvas, and genuine 24K gold.
